2010 Château BATAILLEY, 5ème Cru Classé. Pauillac, Bordeaux

Bin:  777

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Area:

“The 60 hectare Bordeaux vineyard of Chateau Batailley has 57 hectares under vine. The vineyard has a terroir of gravel, clay and sandy soils. There is more clay and sandstone below the surface. Located inland, off the D1, the vineyard is close to the southern end of Pauillac. The majority of the vineyard is close to, and in front of the chateau, not far from the D1. The vineyards have good elevations, with much of the land rising up to 27 meters at its high-points. It is at the peak elevation, which is where you find their best terroir” www.thewinecellarinsider.com

Grape variety:

73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot

Maturity potential:

At its best from 2026.

Old Bridge rating:

A serious, long-lived vintage. This is only just starting to reach maturity.

Press review:

“The 2010 Batailley repeated its magnificent showing when poured at the château. It has a detailed bouquet of blackberry and cedar, quite backward and seemingly having advanced little since I tasted it in April 2016. The palate remains full of tension and brimming with energy, delivering classic cedar and tobacco notes toward the persistent finish. Batailley can produce wines that live many decades, and this is clearly one of them. Tasted at the property. Drink 2020-2050.” Neal Martin, Vinous.
