817. 2014 MEURSAULT, JP Fichet. Burgundy (Half Bottle)
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Area: Meursault is the northernmost of the renowned white wine villages, coming before Chassagne and Puligny. Its reputation is for golden, nutty, rich whites. Nowadays producers are aiming for something more fine and delicate
Grape Variety: Chardonnay, matured for 18 months in barrel (30% new wood each year)
Producer: Fichet is less well-known than he ought to be because he has no Premier Cru vineyards (which, unsurprisingly, tend to get much of the press attention). He has just 7 hectares, spread across about 12 different vineyard plots.
Old Bridge Rating: Fichet's is not a big or traditional style of Meursault. You might guess Puligny if tasting it blind - rich but elegant
