This is an extraordinary 2.5 hectare single vineyard – situated within (actually at the top of) Allegrini’s ‘La Grola’, in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella.
It’s not high in world terms, only 310 metres above sea level, but it sits above the surrounding area and gets the benefit of perfect sun exposure (facing south east) and cool nights.
The soil is a very stoney, chalky limestone. Vines are only around 30 years old but are already producing Corvina of amazing intensity

Allegrini is a large family-owned estate of 90 hectares. They are the leaders of the current revival of the area, producing fresh, modern ‘normal’ Valpol; Ripasso and Amazon without any oxidative, bitter character; and the 2 exceptional single vineyard wines of La Grola and La Poja

Young, but remarkably approachable already. Reaching maturity in 2026 but no rush to drink for another 10 years beyond.
