Producer: Having bought Castell del Remei in 1982 and established it as one of Catalonia’s leading estates, the Cusiné family took on this 32 hectare property in the mountainous Les Garrigues area in 1997. Bordering the Montsant region, the vineyards lie between 700 and 750 metres and poor gravelly soils give naturally low yields

Food Match: Great with lamb or pork; or nutty hard cheese
Old Bridge Rating: Rare to find genuine 'elegance' in Spanish red. They tend to veer between 'traditional' (soft, oaky, creamy, a bit flat) and 'modern' (massive, powerful, vanillin, heady). This belies its alcohol level and has genuine balance and finesse
