2005 POEIRA, Jorge Moreira. Douro Valley, Portugal
Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%
Area: From Pinhão, at the heart of the steep, schistous slopes of the renowned Douro Valley
Grape Variety: Blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinto Roriz and Touriga Francesca, aged for 15 months in French oak
Producer: This is the small (4 hectares), private enterprise of Jorge Moreira, whose day job is winemaker at nearby Quinta de la Rosa
Cellar Potential: 2009 - 2017
Food Match: Brilliant with venison in our 'Game Dinner' at the Old Bridge in November 2010
Old Bridge Rating: Serious, dense wine, showing its Port origins and capable of ageing in similar style
Press Reviews: "A seriously elegant wine blend whose bright red fruit quality is reminiscent of the seductive liquid essence of mulberry and dark cherry. Among the greatest Portuguese wines at a recent tasting event at the Portuguese Embassy in London."
Anthony Rose, The Independent, 14th March 2009
