1999 CEPPARELLO, Isole e Olena. Tuscany
Alcohol Percentage: 14%
Area: Isole e Olena (two tiny ancient villages) is situated in the west of the Chianti Classico area, not far from Castellina, about half way between Florence and Siena
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese aged in oak (one third new oak; 15% American oak, the rest French) for 18 months
Producer: Paolo de Marchi has run the estate since 1976, forging an international reputation in that time. He has 45 hectares of vines. Although he charges more for his Cabernet, the Cepparello is his flagship wine, the ultimate expression of the estate
Cellar Potential: 2007 - 2017. A fine year - this is classic Isole - ripe but not heavy wine that will age beautifully
Press Reviews: James Suckling, The Wine Spectator, July 2002: "92 points. Incredibly well-crafted red here. Complex aromas of raspberries, vanilla and coffee. Medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a long, silky finish. A beauty."
