2006 Now finished: CROZES HERMITAGE, Mule Blanche, Jaboulet. Rhône (Half Bottle)

Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Size of bottle: 375ml
Area: A region obviously better known for reds, but also making under-rated whites. This is a single 7 hectare vineyard of 40+ year old vines
Grape Variety: 50% Roussanne, 50% Marsanne, fermented and matured for 9 months in large oak casks
Producer: Famous above all for the great red, Hermitage La Chapelle, Jaboulet (recently under new ownership) is rapidly increasing the quality (and price) of its whole range. This, for example, may be expensive for a Crozes white but is as good as a lesser grower's Hermitage
Cellar Potential: 2009-2014. Full bottle equivalent would age to at least 2016 but halves are always best drunk a little younger
Old Bridge Rating: Currently still quite youthful, with creamy vanilla and orange peel fruit; watch the waxy complexity of mature Roussanne develop over 2 years or so
