2008 POUILLY-VINZELLES, Climat 'Les Quarts', La Soufrandière, Bret Brothers. Burgundy (Magnum)
Organic
Alcohol Percentage: 12.5%
Area: Vinzelles is an important village in the Mâcon region, southern Burgundy. Its best vineyards get the title Pouilly-Vinzelles. The village style is generally elegant, compared to the heavier wines made in neighbouring Fuissé. Les Quarts is considered the top site within Vinzelles; south-east facing plot with clay and limestone soil
Grape Variety: 40+ year old Chardonnay vines; aged in oak for 11 months
Producer: Domaine La Soufrandière, is run by the Bret Brothers, who look like a rather studious version of Ant and Dec. They are now completely bio-dynamic in their practises and all their wines show the result of low yields and extreme 'tlc'
Cellar Potential: 2011-2015. Can be drunk now if you enjoy citric freshness, but do decant it; over the next few years it will expand into a richer, more typically 'Pouilly' style wine
£64.13 per bottle in a mixed case
£60.75 per bottle in an un-mixed case
