HALVES - SPARKLING AND WHITE
![]() |
2008 NUITS-ST-GEORGES, 1er Cru Terres Blanches, Michele et Patrice Rion (Half Bottle)
Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%
Size of bottle: 375ml
Area: Nuits is of course famous for red not white wine, giving its name to the Côte de Nuits, the home of the world's most renowned Pinot Noirs. Of the 300+ hectares, just 7 are planted with white varieties. Whilst Chardonnay is the key (as for all white Burgundy) Pinot Blanc is allowed and is - as here - sometimes used in small quantities
Grape Variety: 85% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Blanc
Producer: Patrice Rion was winemaker at his family's domaine (Daniel Rion) but has now broken out on his own (with wife Michèle)
Cellar Potential: In halves it's best drunk young. Bottles can be kept to 2013/4
Old Bridge Rating: Is it the Pinot Blanc? - something is giving this white Burgundy an exotic tinge, a floral, high-toned element that marks it out as different to the classic appellations. Still young and vibrant - please let it warm in the glass; too cold and you can only taste lemon and oak
£22.33 per bottle in a mixed case
£21.15 per bottle in an un-mixed case
