ROSÉ

Rosé - DOMAINE DE MUS ROSÉ, Bernard Julien. Pays D'Oc, Southern France

2012 DOMAINE DE MUS ROSÉ. Pays D'Oc, S France

Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Area: The Languedoc is France's biggest wine region. It still makes nearly twice as much wine as the whole of Australia. And it is, increasingly, where not only the best value but also the most exciting new French wines are coming from
Grape Variety: Grenache Gris and Cinsault
Producer: This is a project by Bernard Julien, who also has the Domaine de Bachellery near Béziers, on the Languedoc coast between Montpellier and Carcassone. This is the the home of Grenache, Carignan and a host of other southern varieties. Domaine de Mus is intelligently stretching the boundaries by promoting some of the indigenous but overlooked examples
Cellar Potential: Drink young
Food Match: Has the freshness to match most fish and vegy dishes, as well as being a lovely light appetizer on a sunny afternoon or evening
Old Bridge Rating: Two lesser-known southern varieties combining to produce a zesty but delicate rosé of substance. Provencal style, but at half the price
Press Reviews: “Pale coral. Pale nose. Light melon and raspberry fruit, a delicate petal note. Very refreshing and delicate and pretty and light footed without being watery. Not complex or deep but I'd quaff it in a heartbeat with a plate of salt and pepper squid.” www.jancisrobinson.com
