2010 Now finished: BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES, 'Les Pivoines'. Beaujolais, France
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Area: Beaujolais is to the south of Burgundy. A 'Villages' wine is one step up from a normal Beaujolais but not considered as good as a wine from a named village like Fleurie. BUT remember that a good grower's Villages is often better than a poor Fleurie.....
Grape Variety: 100% Gamay fermented in whole bunches (a method called Maceration Carbonique) and bottled early to retain freshness
Producer: This is made specifically for UK agent Paul Boutinot, by his winemaker Samantha Bailey
Cellar Potential: Drink young
Food Match: Beaujolais is great on its own, or with a meaty salad or picnic. Drink cool in summer
