2012 CÔTES DU RHÔNE, ’La Chapelle de Marin'. Rhône
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Area: From vineyards around the important village of Cairanne in the southern Rhône, a few miles north east of Gigondas
Grape Variety: 60% Grenache, 20% Carignan, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah; fermented and matured in steel to retain maximum freshness
Producer: Winemaker is Patrice Armand, working under the watchful eye of Englishman Paul Boutinot, who specializes in finding parcels of old vines and turning them into quality wines at sensible prices
Food Match: Lighter Rhône reds are really versatile with food - this is a great weekday standby; as good with cold beef and salad as a cheese-crammed baked potato
Old Bridge Rating: The Grenache grape in its most easy-drinking guise.
