Area:

A 50 hectare estate in the central Médoc, just to the south of St Julien. Ste Gemme is a derivative of St James, a local parish, and Carona is a nearby spring. Records go back to 1648, owned by the Borie family since 1900. The vineyards are on a typical gravel plateau.

Grape variety:

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, aged in oak (20% new) for 12 months.
