2016 Chateau COS D’ESTOURNEL ‘LES PAGODES DE COS’. Saint Estephe, Bordeaux.
Bin: 524
Alcohol percentage: 13%
Château Cos d’Estournel is one of Bordeaux’s greatest growths – and is located diagonally opposite Château Lafite-Rothschild at the very southern end of the St Estèphe appellation on the Pauillac border.
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc.
Since 2000, when Michel Reybier purchased it, and under winemaker/technical director Dominique Arangoits, it has just gone from strength to strength. The Grand Vin 2016 scored 100pts across the board from wine critics and writers.
12 months in oak, of which 25% was new. 2016 was a fabulous vintage in Bordeaux making rich and fruity red wines with plenty of freshness, texture, and balance..
Would recommend decanting (there might be some light sediment) and to air and open it up. Enjoy in good sized wine glasses with plenty of “swirl room”!
This is just entering its drinking window but capable of aging nicely over the next 10 years too
