Unico Zelo is a concept created in 2014 by Brendan and Laura Carter, two winemakers based in the Adelaide Hills. Their aim is to produce “Italian-inspired, textural and site-expressive wines” and “Australian examples of Mediterranean varieties in an approachable and jovial fashion.”
Their notes on this wine:
“We’ve had a crack at an unapologetically Unico take on the everyday, reliable, brooding red blend, choosing varieties suited to their respective climates. True Blue is rich, vibrant and robust, featuring Grenache, Touriga, Nero D’Avola, Syrah and Montepulciano.”
Juicy, fruity but vibrantly fresh and zingy red wine – very different to the classic model of Aussie red.
