2022 LUBERON BLANC, Famille Perrin. Provence

Bin:  72

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Area:

Luberon is the area made famous (in the UK) by Peter Mayle’s stories of ex-pat life in rural southern France. It’s north of Provence, all beautiful rolling hills and (still) relatively un-discovered.

Grape variety:

30% Bourboulenc, 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Ugni blanc, 10% Roussanne; mainly vinified in steel tank but 10% fermented in oak barrel; all bottled young (in January) to retain freshness.

Producer:

The Perrins are the much-esteemed owners of the great ‘Beaucastel’ in Chateauneuf du Pape, but also major producers of other wines in surrounding areas, always done to an immaculate and impressive level of quality.

Maturity potential:

Drink young.

Old Bridge rating:

Perfect everyday white – dry, clean, fresh but rounded.
