Fruity/aromatic; dry - TABALI VIOGNIER. Limari Valley, Chile

Sorry This bottle is currently not available.

2016 Now finished: TABALI VIOGNIER, Pedregoso. Limari Valley, Chile

Bin: 153
Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%
Area: Limari is one of the northernmost regions in Chile, not far from the Atacama desert. It's cooled by morning fog and afternoon breezes from the nearby coast - hence able to make such fresh and perfumed whites
Grape Variety: Viognier - the aromatic grape used for the rare but great Rhône white of Condrieu. Here fermented in steel to retain freshness
Producer: Tabali were pioneers in Limari - as recently as 1993! Privately owned, they now have 180 hectares, run by Felipe Muller (winemaker) and Hector Rojas (viticulturalist)
Food Match: Great aperitif; just enough perfume and body to do battle with lightly spiced dishes too
Old Bridge Rating: A fresh and pretty example of Viognier, with just a hint of the exotic richness found in the extraordinary (but prohibitively expensive) wines of Condrieu
