2011 CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY, 1er Cru Les Chabiots, Albert Bichot. Burgundy
Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%
Area: Chambolle is famous for producing the most delicate and elegant wines of the Côte de Nuits and Les Chabiots vineyard is right next to the revered plots of "Les Amoureuses" and "Le Musigny", in the southern part of the Premier Cru area
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir matured in oak (40% new oak) for 14 months
Old Bridge Rating: Until a few years ago we wouldn't even have considered Burgundy from a 'big' merchant like Bichot. But several such large operations have now completely turned their reputations round. I was bowled over by this wine at a tasting of all 2011s (not the most renowned vintage) given by their UK ambassador, Richard Bampfield MW. It really is classic Chambolle - already drinkable and destined to improve for up to 10 years
