2017 LATE HARVEST, Casas del Bosque. Casablanca, Chile (Half Bottle)
Alcohol Percentage: 12.5%
Area: Casablanca Valley was Chile's first cool-climate area, making its name for crisp and elegant Sauvignon Blanc. CDB are at the coolest western end of the valley, which often gets the foggy conditions ideal for the production of botrytis wines.
Grape Variety: 100% Riesling, all 'botrytis' affected, aged in wood for a year.
Producer: Large (245 hectares) but high quality family-owned producer in the west of Casablanca. Quality has rocketed since the arrival of Kiwi winemaker Grant Phelps - they were recently named Chilean 'winery of the year'.
Old Bridge Rating: Honeyed, but very fresh and light - excellent value for a quality sweet wine. Best drunk on its own, or with the lightest of lemony desserts.
