2011 VOSNE-ROMANÉE, Jean Grivot. Burgundy

Bin:  764

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Producer:

Domaine Jean Grivot was one of the first small domaines to bottle their own wine, back in 1919. It is now run by Etienne and his daughter Mathilde) and considered one of the best estates in Vosne. Their ‘normal’ Vosne comes from just below the village, close to 1er Cru Crois Rameau. 95% of it is de-stalked and it spends 18 months in oak, (around 25% new oak).
2011 was a good but not top vintage.

Old Bridge rating:

Grivot’s wines always take a long time to come round. This is only just reaching maturity now.

Press review:

87-89 Points, Allen Meadows: “A notably spicy red and black pinot fruit suffused nose leads to suave, round and complex medium weight flavors that display fine depth and length on the textured, indeed even polished finish. This is a lovely villages that should drink well young but age well too. Drink 2016+.”
