2011 VOSNE-ROMANEE, 1er Cru Malconsorts, Dujac. BurgundyOrganic
Area: Les Malconsorts is a Premier Cru vineyard right next to La Tâche, Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes and just above Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Boudots. It's about 6 hectares and Dujac own a quarter of it.
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir, the majority fermented as whole bunches, matured in French oak (75% new), for around 18 months.
Producer: Domaine Dujac has been owned and run by Jacques Seysses (pictured left) for over 40 years. His sons Alec and Jeremy, with wife Diana, are now in charge. The domaine's style has been renowned for including 100% whole clusters in the vat, making for a highly aromatic but pale coloured style. This is today used more flexibly, however, and the wines can in fact (like this one) be fairly deep, intense and very long-lived.
Old Bridge Rating: 2011s are generally considered weak. This is only just reaching maturity and will be very fine at its peak.
