2008 Château CANON, Grand Cru. St Emilion, Bordeaux
Alcohol Percentage: 14%
Area: On the top of St Emilion's famous limestone plateau, Canon was founded in the early 18th century and now owned, since 1996, by Chanel. It has 34 hectares of vines and is worth visiting for its extraodinary limestone caves.
Grape Variety: 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, matured for 18 months in oak (50% new wood)
Press Reviews: "Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. Ever since its showing out of barrel, the Chateau Canon 2008 has been on an upward trajectory. Here, it displays fine mineralite on the nose, very precise with black rather than red fruit with great delineation, notes of iodine emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, pure dark berry fruit with a touch of spice, focused with a symmetrical finish. This is very assured and just delicious.
Tasted January 2012."
