PROSECCO FRIZZANTE, Ruggeri. Treviso, Italy
Alcohol Percentage: 11%
Area: Prosecco is made over several provinces in north east Italy. Ruggeri are based in the heart of the zone, the 'Cartizze' sector within the Valdobbiadene DOCG area. However this particular wine comes from neighbouring Treviso
Grape Variety: Mainly Glera (previously known as Prosecco) with a small % of local grapes Verdiso and Perera
Producer: Ruggeri was started in 1950 but are part of the most famous family in Prosecco, Bisol, who have made wine there for several centuries. The firm is privately owned and run by the current Bisols. They produce around a million bottles a year.
Old Bridge Rating: Bottled at lower pressure than what is now considered 'normal' Prosecco (it's around 2 atmospheres), this is light, charming, easy-drinking, off-dry (10 grammes of residual sugar) and rather stylish
