2014 PICA BROCA, La Sauvageonne. Terrasses du Larzac, Languedoc
Alcohol Percentage: 14.5%
Area: The Terrasses du Larzac, north-west of Montpelier, is the most prestigious sub-zone in the Languedoc, chiefly because it's home to some great estates like Mas de Daumas Gassac and Grange des Pères.
Grape Variety: 70% Syrah, 30% Grenache; both from very old vines; matured for 16 months in (mainly new) French oak.
Producer: The wines of Château La Sauvageonne are made by Languedoc pioneer and guru Gérard Bertrand, since he bought the estate in 2011.
Old Bridge Rating: Powerful and intense - this is one of the finest wines from the south of France.
