2014 POMMARD, 1er Cru Clos des Poutures, Heitz Lochardet

Bin:  458

Poutures is a Monopole (single ownership) vineyard of .66 hectares, next to the village of Pommard, a little lower down from Les Rugiens.

Grape variety:

Pinot Noir, fermented with 100% whole bunches, the secret behind the aromatic, ‘lifted’ style;

Producer:

A domaine that started in 1857 but for many years sold all its grapes to Joseph Drouhin. In 2011 Armand Heitz finished winemaking school and took over the family vineyards, converting them to biodynamics.
His first wines were made in 2013, and he now hectares of vines in production, across Chassagne-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Meursault, Pommard and Volnay.

Maturity potential:

At its best from 2022

Old Bridge rating:

Not your big, hefty, old-fashioned style of Pommard. This is aromatic and expressive.

Press review:

“Light crimson. Attractive fragrance – perhaps not the most typical of Pommard, but appealing. Gentler extraction than the other wines from this address I have tasted. Good persistence.” Jancis Robinson
