Serious, dry reds - CABERNET SAUVIGNON, Na’aman. Northern Galilee, Israel

2010 CABERNET SAUVIGNON, Na’aman. Northern Galilee, Israel

Bin: 515
Alcohol Percentage: 14%
Grape Variety: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 13 months in new French oak.
Producer: From the website of their agent:
"Rami Na’aman, a former film director and his wife Bettina, an artist, established Na'aman Winery in Ramot Naftali in 2001, turning what was initially a hobby into a very successful award-winning winery in a short space of time.
Na’aman released their first wine in 2004. They now produce some 12,000 bottles per year.
Grapes are grown in the surrounding Kedesh Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty in Upper Gallilee. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot vines are planted at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level on limestone soil. The low rainfall and the temperature range between night and day are ideal conditions..."
Old Bridge Rating: This is clearly a warm climate Cabernet but careful handling in the winery (the oak does not dominate) and 8 years of bottle age have given this wine complexity and real interest.
