Area: This comes from the 'Big Rivers' district within Murray Darling, a warm inland region in New South Wales but actually straddling Victoria too. The winery is next to the Murray River at Trentham Cliffs just outside Mildura in New South Wales.
Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz, fermented cool before brief maturation in French and American oak.
Producer: Murphy Vineyards is the inexpensive label from Trentham Estate, which is owned by the Murphy Family. They have been grape growers since they arrived from Ireland in 1909, finally establishing a winery in 1988. Winemaker from the start has been Anthony, his brother Patrick is the viticulturist and their team now includes daughter Renee.
Old Bridge Rating: Soft, spicy and very easy to drink: Shiraz of incredible value.
