2016 BOURGOGNE BLANC, Les Femelottes, Chavy-Chouet. Burgundy
Alcohol Percentage: 12.5%
Area: Les Femelottes is right next to Puligny Montrachet, just to the east of the village and literally across a small road from vineyards that are allowed to be called Puligny. It's flatter and, consequently, less well exposed site, but this is a vineyard in what one would call a truly 'privileged' location.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay, fermented and matured for 10 months in 225 litre French oak barrels.
Producer: A medium-sized estate of 15 hectares, spread over 14 vineyards (but 70 different 'parcels' - Burgundy is SO sub-divided); now run by Romaric Chavy, who took over the family business in 2014. Their winery is in Meursault
Old Bridge Rating: Genuine bargain, by Burgundy standards.
