2014 BAROLO, Massolino. Piedmont, Italy (Half Bottle)
Alcohol Percentage: 13.5%
Area: Alba is the main wine town of Piedmont, home of both the revered white truffle and the great wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. This wine is a blend of vineyards in one of the great villages of Barolo, Serralunga, renowned for producing long-lived examples.
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo, aged in a variety of different sized oak casks, for 2 and a half years.
Producer: Franco Massolino makes some modern wines, but this Barolo (even though his 'simplest' version) is in traditional style, with long maceration and oak ageing.
Old Bridge Rating: A lighter style Barolo, but still savoury, spicy and tannin-weighty. Decant an hour in advance.
