2019 NOW FINISHED: CHIANTI, Buontalenti. Tuscany, Italy

85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 5% Colorino, matured for 6 months in large, old Slavonian oak barrels.

“For over 20 years, Alberto Antonini has been overseeing a project that involves a number of growers that farm vineyards in the area surrounding his home town of Cerreto Guidi (west of Chianti Classico), Alberto oversees and consults on vineyard management and harvest timing, selecting only the best fruit that is then vinified in a shared winery a couple of miles away from his Poggiotondo estate. Named Buontalenti after the famous 16th century Florentine architect who designed the Villa Medicea in Cerreto Guidi.”
The wine is not certified as organic but all practises are in fact 100% organic.

Relatively soft and gentle for Sangiovese, but this still has the bite and character of all good Chianti. Brilliant value.
