2011 Château FEYTIT-CLINET, Pomerol, Bordeaux (Magnum)

Bin:  887

Alcohol percentage:  13.5%

Area:

Pomerol is on the ‘right bank’, to the east of Bordeaux, where clay soils mean the predominance of Merlot as opposed to Cabernet Sauvignon and, consequently, a softer style of claret.
The riper style makes Pomerol a big hit in the US. Combine this with tiny property sizes and prices are therefore often out of reach.

Grape variety:

90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 12 months in oak.

Producer:

Feytit-Clinet is a small property of only 6.5 hectares, close to Clos L’Eglise, Clinet and Latour a Pomerol. It is owned by the Chasseuil family.

Maturity potential:

2018-2025

Old Bridge rating:

Serious, classic claret, but the Merlot dominance gives it ripeness and generosity even in a rather serious, un-flashy vintage like 2004. Not expensive for a Pomerol.
