2011 Château ORMES DE PEZ. St Estèphe, Bordeaux, France
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Size of bottle: 75cl
Area: St Estèphe, the northernmost sub-region of the Médoc makes characteristically dry, 'gravely', slightly austere claret - this is very much in that style!
Producer: Owned by the Cazes family who also have Lynch Bages and Villa Bel Air in Graves, Ormes de Pez is an immaculately run estate.
Press Reviews: Chris Kissack, Winedoctor.Com - "50%, Merlot 41%, Cabernet Franc 7%, Petit Verdot 2%. This has a dark and rich fruit character on the nose, to match the deep hue in the glass with its intense, crimson-purple rim. There follows a lovely freshness to the start of the palate, the fruit dark, sweet, concentrated, very dense, with some fine lifted elements in the midpalate though. Really well composed, supple and quite soft in its substance, but with a ripe character to the fruit, and a really ripe and rich tannic backbone showing towards the end. Another very good effort from Les Ormes de Pez."
