2014 Château ROUDIER. Montagne-Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux
Alcohol Percentage: 14%
Size of bottle: 75cl
Area: Montagne-Saint-Emilion is a designated area just north of the town and region of Saint-Emilion itself. Roudier is in the southern half, close to Lalande-de-Pomerol and not far from Pomerol itself.
Grape Variety: 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; matured for a year in oak barrels.
Producer: In the same family ownership since 1887, the 42 hectare estate (30 hectares of vineyard) is now run by Thierry Capdemourlin, with his parents Jacques and Francoise.
Old Bridge Rating: 2014 was a good vintage but overshadowed by the much riper 2015 that followed. This is a great example - a balanced and early-drinking claret with both the softness of Merlot and the seriousness of 'proper' Bordeaux.
