2020 CABERNET SAUVIGNON III, Pulenta. Mendoza, Argentina

Bin:  566

Alcohol percentage:  14.5%

Area:

The 135 hectare estate is located in Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. Like all the best Argentine vineyards they are high (average 980m), thus getting a big diurnal temperature range, helping the wines retain freshness and balance.

Grape variety:

100% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 12 months in French oak (half new).

Producer:

The Pulenta family has been involved in the Argentine viticulture for three generations. Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta are currently holding the reins.

Old Bridge rating:

Remarkably easy-going for Cabernet. Aromatic and fresh, but with real richness, depth and a supple, creamy texture.

Food match:

Do the Argentinians eat anything other than char-grilled steak? Apparently not – but that’s only one option for this wine. Almost any red meat will be flattered, with partridge and pheasant also happily matched.
