2011 DE MAY DE CERTAN, Château Certan. Pomerol, Bordeaux (Magnum)
Bin: 889
Alcohol percentage: 13.5%
“An impressive effort from this well-situated estate sandwiched between Vieux Chateau Certan, Petrus and La Fleur Petrus, Certan de May’s dense ruby/purple-colored 2011 exhibits a big, spicy, earthy, plum and black-fruited nose, a medium to full-bodied, masculine style, and some noticeable tannins still to be shed. Cellar it for 2-3 years and drink it over the following 12-15.” Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (212), April 2014
“Tasted twice at JP Moueix and the Syndicate de Pomerol. The Certan-de-May has a gorgeous bouquet with superb fruit intensity: macerated red cherries, raspberry and wild strawberry, all very pure and exuberant. The palate is full-bodied with svelte tannins, very good depth and cohesion with wonderful build in the mouth towards a structured finish. It does not quite have the persistency or the complexity to rank alongside the top-flight wines in recent vintage, but this is an excellent Pomerol 2011. Tasted April 2012.” Neal Martin, RobertParker.com, April 2012
