2021 MAURY, Domaine Pouderoux. Roussillon, France (50cl bottle)

Maury is a small, rather insignificant looking town in the now very dynamic wine region of Roussillon, on the road inland from Perpignan towards Limoux and Carcassonne.

Grenache from 30-50 years old vines; fortified and then matured for six years in glass demijohns and oak barrels.

Robert Pouderoux represents the sixth generation of his family to run their wine estate.

Sweet, fortified red – comparable to Port but less heavy and more versatile. Good with chocolate, with cheese, with nuts or even on its own.
