Cantemerle has 87 hectares of classic Haut-Médoc vineyard, with silica and gravel soils, around the villages of Macau and Ludon. Château La Lagune is close by.
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc, matured for over a year in oak (half new wood).
Since 1981 the château has been owned by SMABTP (Les Mutuelles d’Assurance du Bâtiment et des Travaux Public), managed by Phillippe Dambrine and winemaker Pascal Berteau. In the past Cantemerle was a little neglected, but investment is no longer a problem!
Fine example of the under-stated and elegant 2012 vintage. Just hitting the early plateau of maturity.
