2020 TROUSSEAU, Singulier, Tissot. Jura

Arbois is the key wine district in the Jura mountains, the beautiful region in Western France, just this side of Switzerland. The hillsides are on the eastern side of the Saone valley, on the other side of which is the Côte d’Or. The wines, while much lesser known than those of Burgundy, have a similar sense of cool climate elegance, but in a lighter, tighter, and often more ‘funky’ style.

From six different bio-dynamic Trousseau vineyards; given a long (5 week) fermentation and maceration, before maturation in oak for a year. Minimal sulphur.

Stéphane Tissot is probably the most esteemed grower in the area. He farms his vineyards not just organically but biodynamically.

Very pale and light, but intensely flavoured. A wine for enthusiasts for this style, for others it may be a shock. If you are prepared to take the plunge, expect subtlety and complexity, not power.
