2021 Now finished: RIOJA ROSÉ, La Cuna de la Poesia. Spain

Bin:  302

Alcohol percentage:  13.5%

Area:

As described by UK agent, Indigo:
“The vineyards are situated in La Rioja Alta, at an altitude of 600m where the mild Atlantic climate prevails. The grapes were selected from three young parcels of Garnacha vines, with an average age of 17 years. Soils are mainly ferrous clay with a well-balanced structure. Slightly alkaline, with poor organic content and moderate water availability.”

Grape variety:

Garnacha: made with the free-run juice (what reaches the bottom of the vat without pressing); fermented cool in steel and bottled young.

Producer:

“Cuna de la Poesía is a family run and owned estate, with vineyards situated in the Nejerilla River valley, in the heart of the Rioja Alta Region, on the path of the Camino de Santiago. Winemaker Pamela Geddes keeps a close eye on the vines throughout their vegetative cycle, from pruning through to harvesting, with the sole objective of producing the highest quality of wine.”

Old Bridge rating:

Not as powerful or rich as old-style Rioja rosado, but there is plenty of fruit and charm here. Good value too.
