2011 Now finished: FIXIN, Méo-Camuzet Frère et Soeurs. Burgundy
Bin: 448
Alcohol Percentage: 12.5%
Area: Fixin is a lesser known village on the Côte de Nuits (home of most top red Burgundy), just north of Gevrey Chambertin. The style is normally robust but, from lesser estates, can be a bit weedy or rustic.
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir, aged in French oak for a year, around 20% new oak
Producer: Jean Nicolas Méo runs one of Burgundy's very best estates, based in Vosne-Romanée. Their style is modern, emphasizing ripeness, but without any excess. They are just the people to coax some discreet class out of a humble Fixin
Cellar Potential: 2017-2022
Food Match: Robust enough to partner red meat, but as with all young Burgundy, nothing too heavy or sweet
