2014 CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY, Dujac Fils et Père. Burgundy

Bin:  454

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Organic

Area:

Chambolle-Musigny is the village on the Côte de Nuits known above all for under-stated elegance. In recent years prices have shot up, way above Nuits-St-Georges for instance.

Producer:

Domaine Dujac has been owned and run by Jacques Seysses (pictured left) for over 40 years. His son Jeremy, with wife Diana, are now in charge. The domaine has been renowned for including 100% whole clusters in the vat, making for a highly aromatic but pale coloured style. This is today used more flexibly and the vineyards are now completely organic, although not certified as such.
Fils et Père wines are made from grapes bought from contracted growers, rather than vineyards owned by the estate.

Old Bridge rating:

A light, delicate, very “pure” style of Pinot Noir. Having said that, this is still young. Soft and savoury but getting better every year.

Just two bottles left now….

Food match:

Nothing too strongly flavoured; this is fresh but delicate Pinot of great subtlety.

Press review:

“Outstanding. A super fresh, complex and elegant nose features notes of black cherry, spice, lavender and hints of violet. The sleek, cool and refined flavors exude a fine bead of minerality that can also be found on the ever-so-mildly austere, balanced and persistent finale where a hint of bitter cherry emerges. This pretty effort is very Chambolle in character. Drink: 2021+”. Burghound.com
