2015 JURANÇON, Moelleux, ‘Au Capceu’, Camin Larredya. FranceOrganic
Alcohol Percentage: 12.9%
Area: Jurancon is an under-appreciated area in the deep south west of France, beneath the city of Pau. Grapefruit-fresh dry whites and - its real strength - sweet whites which balance honeyed sweetness with real vivacity
Grape Variety: Petit Manseng (tiny amounts of Gros Manseng and Petit Corbu), fermented in oak (half new) where it matures for 18 months
Producer: A small 9 hectare estate owned by the Grussaute family for over 100 years. Capceu is a hillside vineyard at 300m, picked late
Old Bridge Rating: Late picked so the grapes are ultra-ripe. Tantalising blend of honeyed sweetness and citric freshness
