Bas Armagnac AOC
Baron di Sigognac, owned by the Guasch family, has incredible stocks of old wines. This is one of their youngest bottling, being aged for a minimum of (only) 10 years in cask. The first year is in new barrels, the rest in old wood.
They are proud to tell everyone that they are one of the few houses to own their own vineyards and distillery – all their wines are made and mature on the estate.
Armagnac can be fierce (almost harsh) but this is a gentle, well matured, rounded example.
