Fresh, dry whites, over £10 - SAUVIGNON BLANC, Tinpot Hut. Marlborough, N.Z.

2018 SAUVIGNON BLANC, Tinpot Hut. Marlborough, NZ

Bin: 102
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Area: New Zealand's premier Sauvignon region, Marlborough in the north east corner of the South Island
Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Producer: Named after an old 'mustering hut' for sheep farming. Winemaker Fiona Turner sources most of her grapes from the Awatere valley
Cellar Potential: Drink as young as possible
Old Bridge Rating: Tinpot Hut is quintessential Kiwi Sauvignon. Not a subtle style - it leaps out the glass (as they say) and has very 'immediate' character. When we last gave our customers a blind Sauvignon Blanc tasting we found, yet again, Tinpot at the top of the tree (with Cloudy Bay well down the pecking order)
Press Reviews: 98 Points / 100 in Decanter Magazine tasting, July 2017 -
"This is a flinty, dry and textural wine. A concentrated and poised amalgamation of complexity and style, effortlessly pure and well composed with nice phenolics and crisp acidity. (Melanie Brown)
A broad Sauvignon Blanc with cut grass and subdued passion fruit flavours. This is quite a lively, energetic wine with a lengthy finish. (Bob Campbell MW)
Classic herbal, grassy and fruity bouquet with flavours of fresh lemon and grapefruit, then red apple and some tropical fruit; vibrant acidity, refreshing, balanced and well made with decent length. (Cameron Douglas MS)"
