1990 Château D’YQUEM, 1er Cru Classé Supérieur. Sauternes (Half bottle)

Bin:  926

Alcohol percentage:  14%

Area:

The beautiful building of D’Yquem is easily visible in the southern part of Sauternes, just south east of Bordeaux.

Grape variety:

Semillon (normally 80%) and Sauvignon Blanc, matured in new oak for 3 years.

Producer:

D’Yquem has long been recognised as the greatest Sauternes estate – having the unique ranking of Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification.

Vintage:

An outstanding year.

Maturity potential:

2010-2040, but in halves perhaps best to drink by 2030.

Press review:

“A stunning wine that should continue to beguile us for decades but that is sufficiently sweet and round that it can already be drunk with great pleasure. Excellent acidity and everything tucked in there for the future. Drink: 2004 – 2040.” Jancis Robinson, 2010.
